You will only lose weight when you quit smoking but, will also get other things that money cannot buy- people’s approval and love.

Many people who smoke today are frustrated people (those that have made it a habit and not social smokers). And you know that a frustrated person cannot make any meaningful decision and impact.

Smoking is a bad habit that does not go alone. It usually go with excessive alcohol and eating (junk foods). These no doubt leaves one in a bad shape in no distant time.

Too much intake of food and alcohol is our number one enemy as far as weight control is concerned.

Stopping smoking through the power of motivation

I have been opportune to counsel over thirty people who successfully quit smoking after putting into practice my motivational approach to quitting smoking.

These people have all tried CHANTIX (varenicline) and NICOTINE PATCH. They even went as far as applying some harmful substance on every cigarette within their reach to help scare them away from smoking but all to no avail.

Also, think about the peace. Joy and happiness you will get if you can win the approval of your loved ones. They will approve you if you quit smoking- that is your motivation.

Replacing smoking with another lesser harmful habit

My standard recommendation is to replace smoking with ‘drinking of water’. It is a proven fact that a habit must be replaced with another habit, so use water as substitute. I used this technique and worked beyond my expectation. The only down side to this is that you will urinate more often and sweat a lot.

But, come to think of it, is sweating and urinating really a down side? I probably think they are not. Rather, they help flush the system.

Think negatively about smoking

Conjure an imaginary sickness or disease that has not been discovered and that has no cure which can be contracted through smoking. Now, combine this your imaginary but real disease with the ones that have been proved to exist but without a convincing cure for them.

Sure, fear will grip at this point and that fear will act as a motivating factor to help you quit smoking.

Seek divine intervention

It is often said that the spiritual controls the physical. And that is why it is imperative that we should always seek divine help in whatever we are doing.

Appoint a watchman

What this watchman will do is to remind you of your resolution to stop smoking and bring you back to consciousness each time that temptation to smoke start coming. The best watchman you can employ is YOURSELF. I have tried this on several occasions and it worked.

The danger with bring in another person to do this for you is that there are times when you will not be happy and this person trying to correct you at that point will result to quarrel. And again, you are not always with the person- but, you can’t run away from yourself.

    It is one year now since I Quit smoking and I don’t think I’ll ever smoke again. My life improved a lot, in new ways I never thought of in connection with quitting smoking. For instance, my life in hotel rooms got better. Before, I used to ask for a smoking room whenever I checked in a hotel. Smoking rooms have a bad smell, regardless the hotel category or cleanliness. Maybe they don’t smell if the hotel is new but this I cannot tell. Many times I had to endure that bad odor, being ashamed to go and ask for another room at the reception. I noticed that improvement from the first time I checked in a hotel as non-smoker and I was impressed of the nice flowery scent of the room.
